A Guide on Healthy Traveling Food Choices

The festive season is usually the most hectic time period as many people travel back home for Diwali celebration. But there is one common concern that every traveler faces, be it a regular traveler or casual one, and that is what to eat while traveling.

However, with a little planning, you can get rid of this concern and eat a healthy meal while traveling, simultaneously maintaining the eating habits you normally follow when you are not traveling.

Below are a few tips which can help you eat healthy food while traveling.

  1. Easy snacks

You can avoid unhealthy binging by having good protein food as your handy snack while traveling. It can be as light as puffed rice mixed with roasted pea gram to little filling fruits and vegetables.

You can also have peanut with chiwra or khakhra with any chutney or sauce. These things will be light on your belly but equally nutritious and healthy.

  1. Seeds with Protein

Seed mixtures like almonds, walnut, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, etc. and dry fruits are a rich source of protein that helps you full and energetic.

Take them with you in a ziplock pouch and carry them along, you may also add little raisins, dry berries, dry figs, and other dry fruits to keep yourself nutritious.

  1. Fruity Treat

You can also have some seasonal fruits like apple, orange, grapes, pears, and other fruits while traveling. That can help you curb the feeling of eating unhealthy sugary food.

  1. Easy Bite Food

While you are traveling, always opt for the food which is less messy or in a bit size. Sandwich, wraps, rolls, etc a good option for that. You can also take whole wheat bread, butter cubes, cheese slices so that you can prepare anywhere snack on your own for fulfilling your stomach.

  1. Eat Dry, Eat Fresh

Whether you are traveling through train, bus, self-ride or any other way, you must check the perishable and non-perishable food items you take with you. Try to carry dry food items like chapattis, paranthas, daal stuffed rotis, daal/besan chilla, etc. which are easy to pack and carry food for traveling.
